John Wilson and his celebrated musical ensemble pay tribute to Cole Porter in a toe-tapping concert from The Royal Albert Hall.
Recreating the unmistakable tunes of the American composer’s big screen hits, a feel-good programme features songs from musicals High Society, The Pirate and Can-Can, and includes tunes originally written for Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland and Peggy Lee, such as I’ve Got You Under My Skin, Night & Day and Let’s Do It.
The orchestra, which has become renowned for its sell- out performances at the BBC Proms, is joined at the Royal Albert Hall by musical theatre stars Anna-Jane Casey and Scarlett Strallen, big band singer Matt Ford and baritone Richard Morrison. Celebrating some of the best-loved music in the American Songbook, the energetic concert is the climax of the orchestra’s 13-date tour that marks the anniversary of Porter’s death.
